Australian War Memorial

The Australian War Memorial’s purpose is to commemorate the sacrifice of those Australians who have died in war. Its mission is to assist Australians to remember, interpret and understand the Australian experience of war and its enduring impact on Australian society.

There are many wonderful events happening at the Memorial throughout the year. From art talks, behind the scenes tours, children’s story time and the permeant kids space The Discovery Zone.

The Discovery Zone is an educational space featuring five environments inspired by Australia’s military history, Children can climb, jump, crawl, touch and explore in all areas of the Discovery Zone. It looks, feels and even smells different to the Memorial’s other galleries.

The public is invited to enjoy this space from 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm on weekdays and all day during weekends, public holidays and ACT School Holiday.
