Banjo Paterson Park Playground, Gladesville
Named after one of Australia’s most loved and influential poets, Banjo Paterson Park can be found overlooking the Parramatta River in Sydney’s northern suburb of Gladesville.
With play equipment providing something for kids of all ages, from toddlers and preschoolers right up to primary school aged children, the highlight of the playground has to be its multi level oil factory themed climbing tower, a nod to the historical background of the parks site, previously used for the Halmeg linseed oil factory.
Other play equipment features a mega tunnel slippery slide, swings, see-saw, penny farthing spring rocker plus a smaller under 5’s playground area shaded by a huge shade sail that includes climbing challenges, a slide, step up fire pole, abacus, bridge and cubby house.
There’s plenty of surrounding grassy areas to picnic on, seating for parents and carers, sheltered picnic table and BBQ facilities if you wanted to make a day out of your visit with family and friends. Don’t forget the bikes and scooters too, great walking pathways follow along the Parramatta River for a scenic family ride after visiting Banjo Paterson Park Playground.
