Blackbutt Nature Reserve & Richley Reserve Adventure Playground, Newcastle
Blackbutt Reserve is a 182 hectare nature reserve in Newcastle, offering scenic trails, native wildlife exhibits, playgrounds and recreation facilities.
With scenic natural bushland and a large array of native fauna and flora species, Blackbutt Reserve offers an authentic Australian wildlife experience only moments from Newcastle CBD. Families can explore over 10 kilometres of stunning walking trails, unwind in peaceful picnic and playground areas and interact with the environment through a unique wildlife exhibit, tours and encounters.
The playground features rope courses, bridges, swings and slides, an adventure tower, and plenty of space for everyone from toddlers to tweens, and all abilities.
The kids will also love exploring the wildlife exhibits, get up close and feed the emus (Emu cones filled with seeds and grains can be purchased from the Kiosk on the day) reptile shows also run on the weekends and school holidays.
