Cataract Dam, Sydney
A great learning opportunity for the kids would be to visit one of Sydney’s dams to talk about the importance of water, especially during periods of drought and water restrictions.
Not only is Cataract one Sydney’s most picturesque heritage listed dams, but to think that something of this calibre was built between 1902-1907 is mind blowing!
Pack a picnic and enjoy the serenity; nothing but the sound of nature and water, it’s truly breath-taking. Walk across the Dam wall, take photos and finish with a play at the children’s playground.
Be sure to check Water NSW website for any closures before heading out for a visit, due to planned works or maintenance. Visiting hours are extended during daylight savings.
