Central Park Playground, Malvern East
Central Park is one of my kid’s favourite places to visit in Melbourne’s inner east. With a huge sporting oval, lovely gardens, one of the oldest conservatories in Victoria, a children’s playground and cafes close by, whats not to love from this free family outing.
The park is embellished with beautiful avenue trees, shrubs and flowerbeds and adjoined by an open oval for cricket and other team sports. The playground is located on the Kingston Street road side of the park and is partly fenced off from the busy road. Play equipment is mostly shaded by tall established trees above and includes two play structures of slides, bridges and climbing challenges, there’s also multiple swings (infant/baby swings and regular swings) monkey bars, balancing beams and a see-saw.
Nearby to the playground is a beautiful water fountain, which we haven’t seen working in a while, but would make a lovely spot for some family snaps, really though anywhere in Central Park would be the perfect location to capture special photos, especially in Autumn with the coloured leaves on the trees.
Toilets are located on the opposite side of the park on Burke Road, where you’ll also find local shops and cafes. Spoilt for choice, our favourite is Coffee & Soul for take away coffee and baby chinos.
