Ferntree Quarry Reserve Playground, Knox

Quarry Reserve is a hidden gem in Knox and is well worth a visit with the family. A much-loved open space in Ferntree Gully for parents and children to have the opportunity to connect with nature at their suburban doorstep.

The reserve is a great place for a range of recreational activities such as walking, fishing or just taking in the fresh air and scenery from one of the viewing platforms.

There’s a great little nature based playground too featuring a timber climbing frame, multiple swings and two embankment tunnel slides down the hill. Sheltered barbecue facilities and picnic table areas are available to use also.

Such a lovely setting, at the base of the Dandenong Ranges National Park. The quarry lake is scenic and the concrete winding path down the hill is a gentle gradient, super easy with a pram. The playground has a natural feel with timber elements, however it is quite small and doesn't hold attention for too long. Why do councils use metal slides though?! This is going to be unusable in summer. Although there are plans for additional parking, there are very few car parks available and the surrounding neighbourhood streets are narrow. Parking is horrific on a weekend. Hopefully the council put better planning and thought into what they are planning to put in.
