Reg Harris Reserve Playground, Oakleigh East
We stumbled on this great playground while on an adventure to nearby Bunnings, it turned out to be the perfect spot to let the kids stretch their legs and burn off some energy before driving back home to do “boring” house jobs.
Reg Harris Reserve is a peaceful park located in Melbourne’s eastern suburb of Oakleigh East. The large reserve offers lots of space for running around, kicking a ball, a half court basketball ring (bring your own ball), an ornamental pond with resident ducks and two little bridges, barbecue facilities, sheltered picnic tables for family gatherings and birthday celebrations, plus toilets near the car park entrance.
The shaded timber playground was a highlight for my kids, with a wave slide and curly slide, four person see-saw, fish spring rocker, multiple swings including a basket swing, regular and baby swing, monkey bars, underneath cubby house, tunnel, suspended rope bride and spinning carousel.
The play space also had lots of nature elements which all the kids seemed to enjoy exploring too, such as stepping logs, landscaped nature pathways and a rocky dry creek bed.
We really enjoyed discovering this playground, next time we will be sure to pack the basketball and sausages for the BBQ.
