St Kilda Penguins


The breakwater which protects the harbour of St.Kilda is home to a colony of little penguins, The penguins can be seen during the Victorian daylight saving period, approximately 30 minutes after sunset. Penguin Guides will be on duty to answer your questions.

Please respect the penguins and their nests by not handling or feeding of the penguins, no flash photography, no torches to be shone on the penguins without a red filter over the front (ask the penguin guides for some red cellophane that you can use) no dogs past the entry gate into the penguin viewing area, no climbing or sitting on the rocks and keep your distance from penguins moving around the viewing area.

Penguin viewing is from sunset until around 10.00 pm during the Victorian daylight saving period, starting again on 5 October 2014.
