Thalassa Park Playground & Storybook Walk, Aberfoyle Park

4.25

Sitting atop rolling green hills is Thalassa Park in Aberfoyle Park south of Adelaide, home to the treasured Storybook Walk, a¬†sculpture park aiming to raise the profile of Australian writers and poets by bringing to life some of the characters from the best loved children’s books, Grug, Possum Magic and I’m A Dirty Dinosaur just to name a few.

The park also offers a wonderful nature based playground for the kids, featuring a pretty impressive mound tunnel slide and a huge bird shape play structure, with climbing equipment and slides best suited to children under 10 years to enjoy. There’s also a basket swing, spring rocker and a timber log climbing obstacle frame.

Definitely pack the scooters for exploring the gardens and Storybook Walk, pathways are sealed plus there’s toilets and plenty of grassy areas to rest and have a picnic afterwards or use one of the barbecue facilities.
